Laminate floors are often described as an easy surface to have in your home, but the reality is that if you don’t keep on top of cleaning them then they can get damaged.
If you’re wondering what you should be doing to keep your laminate floors in pristine condition, check out the tips provided recently by Real Simple.
The news provider got some advice from Debra Johnson, a Merry Maids home cleaning expert. She explained that you should be vacuuming your laminate floors at least twice a week, otherwise dirt and debris can scratch the surface.
She also recommends washing your laminate floors using a flat mop with a damp microfiber floor pad. The best way to approach it is to mist small sections of the floor at a time with a water and vinegar mix, and clean it section by section.
Once you’ve finished with the mopping, use a dry microfiber cloth to make sure there isn’t any moisture left on the floor, as this can also cause damage.
But don’t despair if your laminate floors have seen better days and need more than just a good clean. You can use a specialist to carry out laminate repairs and make your floors look as good as new.
Even if you’re thinking you might be moving on in the not too distant future, investing in home repairs could be a good move. Research published by Key earlier this year found that people whose properties are in a poor state of repair or that have dated decor find it more difficult to attract buyers than those that are more modern and better cared for.
